Finding a tourney Tournaments tend to start every 30 minutes, on the hour and on the half hour. There is one main source for tournament listings (at present). This is WGC event Schedule: http://wgcenter.com/e107_plugins/games/events.php Spur Tournaments Occasionally a host will decide to run a tournament at the last minute, and hence will not have advertised on the above listings pages. These tournaments take place in the Spur tournament rooms. They are typically advertised in other tournament room lobbies or via word of mouth. Further, if you keep an eye on the number of people present in the Spur rooms you can anticipate if a tournament is underway or about to start. Entering a Tournament As soon as you enter a tournament room you will see a welcome message. This will detail the game format, the start time and wether lobby or table ins. Most tournaments at WGC are lobby ins with the exception of WGC TOC's which are table ins. To enter you will need to ask the host to ‘in' you. If you want the host to allocate a partner for you type, “single in pls”. This is all done in the lobby unless specified as table ins. If you are playing with someone you know type forward slash and your partners name (e.g. /UK_KING in as team pls ). There is no need to put your name as it comes up automatically before hand. Host should then confirm you are in the tournament. Sometimes it is difficult for the host to keep up if a lot of people are inning at the same time. Therefore if you don't get a confirmation immediately it is polite to wait a while before asking in again. Playing a Tournament At the specified tournament start time (or usually a few minutes later) the host will run the rules in the lobby. Please make a point of reading these for your first few tournaments. They don't tend to vary much, but it's important that you abide by them. Following the rules, the host will then give out the assignments, again in the lobby. Assignments are given in the following format: 39) UK_XXX/UK_YYYY VS 40) LY_FRED/YL_HARRY I like to copy this assignment (using Cntl+C) and paste it into Notepad (using Cntl+V). If you get to a Semi, it is important to copy the hosts name as well as the assignment. This comes in handy later. Rules as to who gets to pick table will be given with the tournament rules. However 99% of the time the first team listed has table choice. You should agree with you partner before the tournament starts who will pick table if your team are lucky enough to be given table choice. Usually one partner agrees to ‘pick' (table) and the other ‘posts' (results). If you have table choice then you need to inform the other team which table you wish to use. This is done using the tournament room lobby, typing something like: 39) UK_XXX/UK_YYYY VS 40) LY_FRED/YL_HARRY table 7 pls
Reporting game win to host If you win then report in lobby as : 39) UK_XXX/UK_YYYY OVER 40) LY_FRED/YL_HARRY Or, 40) LY_FRED/YL_HARRY LOST TO 39) UK_XXX/UK_YYYY Again you do not need to type assignment. Just modify it in Notepad and copy and paste from there. The host will then confirm the win and put up the new assignment, if you win again, do the same again until you lose. End of tournament If you win the tournament, or are runner- up you will get a banner that looks similar to this. It will be displayed in the lobby when the final is over. Reporting tournament results for UK SpaderZ leader board points UK SpaderZ allocates leader board points for reaching Semis, being Runner Up, or for a tournament win. Results should be posted on the report points page
If you win, or are runner up, you should post the banner, including host's name and date. If you get a Semi, you should post the Semi assignment, which should include the host's name. Good luck! . |
